Terms of service

What this is

Signature ("we", "us") sends a document you supply to people you name, collects an electronic signature from each of them through a private link, and produces an executed copy of the document together with a record of what we observed while doing so. You ("you", "the customer") pay per envelope at the rates published on our pricing page. We are an independent Ounie product.

What this is not

Signature produces an executed record with an audit trail. It is not legal advice and makes no claim of ESIGN, UETA or eIDAS qualification. Signer identity is not verified.

We do not verify the identity of any signer. We do not check documents against identity records, we do not witness, and we do not notarise. We make no representation that a document executed through this service satisfies any particular statute, regulation or evidential standard in any jurisdiction, including but not limited to the U.S. ESIGN Act, UETA, or the EU eIDAS Regulation.

Nothing on this site or in any output of this service is legal advice. If your matter needs a qualified electronic signature, a notary, a witness, or verified identity, this is the wrong service and you should use a different one.

You are responsible for deciding whether this service is appropriate for a given document, and for the content of every document you send through it.

What the record contains

For each envelope we record: the sha256 of the exact document bytes served; when each signer was invited, when they first opened the document, and when they signed; the client IP address and user-agent string observed on the signing request; and the full name each signer typed together with their explicit consent to sign electronically. Every event is timestamped in UTC and stored append-only.

We do not record anything else about a signer, and the record makes no claim about anything we did not observe. An IP address is a fact about a network connection; it is not a location and we do not present it as one.

Billing

There is no subscription. Envelopes are billed in Ounie credits (1 credit = 1¢) from your shared Ounie wallet: 15 credits to send an envelope, and a further 10 credits when every signer has signed and the executed copy is produced.

Polling an envelope's status, reading its audit trail, downloading an executed copy you have already paid for, and withdrawing an envelope are free.

If an envelope cannot be sent — the document cannot be retrieved, typeset or stored, or no invitation can be delivered to anyone — the reserve is refunded in full. If your wallet cannot cover the execution charge at the moment the last signature lands, the envelope is still executed and the signatures still stand; the executed copy is produced when the charge clears, and nothing is charged in the meantime.

Payments, credit purchases and refunds are handled on your Ounie account at ounie.com, under Ounie's terms.

Acceptable use

This service sends email to addresses you supply. You may only send an envelope to a person who has a genuine reason to expect it and a relationship to the document. You may not use it for unsolicited mail, marketing, list-testing, or to send documents designed to mislead the recipient about who is asking or what they are signing.

Recipients are checked against Ounie's shared suppression list and our own opt-out records before an envelope is sent, and a suppressed address is refused. Every invitation carries a one-click unsubscribe. We may suspend or revoke a key that generates complaints or bounces at a rate that endangers the sending reputation shared across Ounie products, and we will tell you why.

Limits

Up to 10 signers per envelope and a signing window of up to 90 days. Published limits may change; the current values are always returned by our public pricing endpoint.

Availability and liability

The service is provided as is. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, delivery of any particular email, or that a document executed through the service will be accepted by any court, registry, counterparty or regulator.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the credits you spent on the envelope giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of a bargain, of a contract, or of the ability to enforce one.

Your data

See our privacy policy. In short: your documents and audit trails are private to you and the people you sent them to, nothing is published, and the audit log is append-only.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date above. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
